Suddenly Sydenham Match Report (5th November 2011)

One Day Competition - Suddenly Sydenham vs Sumner, 3A, Barnett Park #1, 5th November 2011

Suddenly Sydenham went into the 4th match of the year at top of the table with 3 wins from 3. We had a late pull out and started with 10 players until Martin's cousin filled in. We were playing Sumner at Barnett Park and batted first.

We started ok but were then 25/2 when Michael Nicholson was joined by Geordie Dann for a 144 run partnership. There was some sketchy batting but even sketchier fielding with both batsmen being dropped. Geordie was dismissed for 65 from 57 and Michael added his last 50 runs of 27 balls to get through to a very impressive maiden century, 106 from 82 balls. The team made it through to a competitive 229/8 which also included Nick Magon's first ever 6.

Once in the field we bowled steadily with a wicket to Nick Magon and then Benny Magon ran out their old bickering keeper captain with a direct hit from the boundary without him facing a ball. They had a decent batsmen B Jury who punished everything full through the covers. Daniel Loughton came on first change and got the danger-man for 55 and 2 others before drinks to have them 68/5. After drinks Dan picked up where he left off and got the remaining 5 wickets in 3 overs. Michael catching 2 and Geordie catching 3 to give Dan figures of 7.5 overs, 2 maidens, 22runs, 8 wickets. Their captain was too gutted to join the handshakes with the rest of his team.

Overall a very good day of cricket with plenty of highlights.
