One Day Competition - 3B Goats vs East Shirley, Centennial Park #2, 3B, 24th October 2015
Centennial Park 2 was the venue for our game vs East Shirley. They won the toss and chose to bat which suited us right down to the ground.
Pat and Alex B found plenty of swing and both got an early wicket. Both could have had more wickets but for some extremely interesting umpiring decisions including one plumb LBW which hit the batsman on the toe on the full but was given not out because "he hit it". That batsman didn't end up fielding due to a sore foot. Alex Hewson came on a bowled quickly and had 1-1 off 3 overs. The first ball of his 4th over got edged for 4, the next fizzed past the batsmans nose and then came the call to the batsman that he was facing the quickest bowler in the grade. This led to much hilarity from the fielders but to be fair the next ball was a fast yorker which wrecked the stumps and backed up the call. We picked up wickets and regular intervals and they were bowled out for 108 which we were very pleased with considering this team had smashed our bowling in recent games.
After losing both openers cheaply to the swinging ball Amos and Dougy dug in and at the 20 over mark we were 2-57 and in a good position. 5 overs later we had won as Dougy started blazing and middled everything, including a big 6 into the wind that landed in the beach volleyball court. He was finally out for 56 with the win in sight. Amos promptly got the few remaining runs including a rare 7. A good win to take our record to 3 wins and a loss. MVP was Dougy for his well hit 56.
