Highlight of the weekend was the Division One boys victory off the final ball of the match in their one-day final on Saturday. For the Premier Men it was a case of won one lost one at the start of their T20 campaign, and the Division two boys went one better with two victories, be it one from a default.
A great day’s cricket for the two Premier sides with the men coming literally within an inch of victory at Burwood, and the woman peeling off two wins in their T20 matches. The Division 1 boys had an unfortunate start to their T20 competition, whereas Division 2 managed to crawl out of their match with a very nervous draw.
The Division 1 boys are through to their 1-day final in a fortnight’s time after their win on Saturday that saw them qualify first in their pool thus avoiding the need to play a semi-final and move directly into the final on the 21st.
Although there were some good matches amongst them, all four morning grade sides lost on Saturday with the Prem Men unable to chase down BWU’s total on Sydenham 1, and the Prem Woman and Div1 one both unable to successfully defend their totals. Div 2 likewise lost but down to 9 men at one stage after the injury to Andrew Reynolds who took a nasty blow to the head through the visor whilst batting.
